The original LEGO Insects Ideas submission, conceived by the creative mind of hachiroku24, initially featured five diverse insects, designed using simpler building techniques. Notably, the charming ladybug has been transformed into a 1×1 tile!
Upon observing the final model, it is evident that LEGO has chosen three of the most visually impressive insects, enhancing their sizes and adding elements like wooden bark and foliage to create a captivating diorama effect. This aesthetic choice aligns seamlessly with the influence drawn from the LEGO Botanical Collection, evident in the floral and natural detailing.
A glance at the box’s reverse offers a sneak peek into the set’s features. Furthermore, dimensions for each insect model are as follows, emphasizing their considerable size:
Blue morpho butterfly and honeybee (18 x 19 x 11.5cm) Hercules beetle (14.5 x 15.5 x 11.5cm) Chinese mantis and seven-spotted ladybug (17 x 17 x 11.5cm)
Provided by LEGO, additional lifestyle images allow for a closer examination of the intricately designed LEGO Insects, featuring exclusively printed elements. Of particular interest is the ingenious use of LEGO Minifigure Fairy Wings for the bee and a printed egg for its abdomen.
In conjunction with the launch of the LEGO Ideas Insects set, LEGO has collaborated with the award-winning and Emmy-nominated Foley artist, Sanaa Kelley. Together, they have crafted “Green Noise,” an ASMR playlist inspired by nature, incorporating the distinct sounds of each insect reimagined using LEGO elements. The LEGO Green Noise playlist is accessible for streaming on LEGO.com/insects.
